The artist, a veteran, grappled with mental illness after service. Denied support, they descended into darkness. Seeking solace, the artist wrote down their experiences, finding hope and relief in creation. From here the art evolved into something more than just a single person's story. After sharing my work online, I invited others to contribute their stories. Over 1,000 voices responded, weaving a tapestry of shared struggle and resilience. The words themselves, given to me from others, are a a testament to the raw emotions, capturing despair, hope, and the unwavering support of loved ones.

A World Transcended, Not Escaped: Symbolism explained

The angel, rising above a desolate landscape of ruined buildings and skyscrapers  "World of Ruin", symbolizing hope and beauty amidst suffering. Bellow "The Five Poisons of Buddhism", the sources of many types of trauma's and suffering – illusion, envy, attachment, anger, and pride – are depicted as skulls, representing negativity that can be overcome. These are all places where pain, suffering and trauma can begin, but just like how the angel rises above, so can a person transcend their suffering.

The angel's introspective pose and expression on her face underscores the power of self-reflection and mindfulness in healing.

This meticulously crafted artwork, taking six months to complete, is a testament to the artist's journey and a beacon of hope for others.
